Michael was at one time Assistant Secretary at COSLA and then in 1983 he was appointed Director of Law and Administration at the City of Dundee Council where he controlled a development group of approximately 175 persons, which was charged with regenerating the City. In 1988 he was appointed Chief Executive of Wyre Borough Council and held that post for 15 years. Since leaving Wyre Borough Council, Michael has been operating as a Consultant, giving advice to both public and private sector organisations on a range of issues. He is presenting the induction sessions on Planning and Licensing.
Michael is a non-executive director of the NHS Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Hospitals Trust and Chairman of Wyre Housing Association.
